Description

Everyone knows Barcelona and, of course, Gaudí, and you probably know them, too. But Art Nouveau also conquered Hungary! I’m going to show you hidden treasures that are outstanding works of European architecture! What's more, it's all here, in one place, in the City Center! Discover the rich Art Nouveau heritage in downtown Budapest, which is outstanding in Europe! Let me show you the little-known hidden gems of Hungarian architecture without taking you away from the hustle and bustle of the city center! Did you know that we’ve been celebrating World Art Nouveau Day on June 10 since 2013 on a Hungarian initiative? Ödön Lechner, the leading figure of Hungarian Art Nouveau, died on this day in 1914, and the Catalan architectural genius Antoni Gaudí passed away on the same day in 1926. The last stop of our tour is the Bedő House, a real success story of heritage protection from the times after the regime change. You can also learn the details if you first join me to check out a few gems from the Art Nouveau period.
